Dean has been playing football since the age of 11 when his dad first took him along to a training session with Aldershot Boys F.C.

Straight away Dean took a love for the sport and it was noted that he already had the potential to one-day play at a good standard. He also started to follow his favourite team, ‘Arsenal’ as well as taking an interest in his local side ‘Aldershot Town FC.” After a short spell and a championship-winning season Dean decided to follow some of his schoolmates and join a less successful “Vale United.” He spent a couple of years with Vale before starting senior school and deciding to take a break from the sport.

It wasn’t long before he was asked to put his boots back on and this time don the number 7 shirt for Mytchett Athletic. During his first season with his new team Dean contributed to teams first League Championship title, scoring 22 goals in 27 appearances. Not bad for a wide midfielder! Mytchett was also his most enjoyable playing season and holds many memorable moments for Dean. His most memorable moment was needing to win the last game of the season away to Liphook to win the league. “The team came in 2-0 down at half time and the manager made the maximum 5 changes aloud at half time. One of those players to come on was me. I remember the first chance I had on the volley slamming the ball home to get one of the 5 goals in our come back. We won the game 5-2 and thus clinched the league title in our first season ever!” He also picked up the supporters player of the year award.

Following his success he was selected for the ‘Aldershot Town FC youth team, training full time. After a short spell with Aldershot Dean decided in order to play first team football he would make the short move to Farnham Town. Again Dean spent a season with Farnham before eventually joining current club Tongham. Dean looks forward to the season ahead and hopes its not long before he is picking up yet more silverware!
