Dave first started out as a player, playing as a Goalkeeper first off at Aldershot Town. He spent 5 years there winning 3 League titles and 5 Cups. He was picked up by Portsmouth of the English Premier League and spent a season there playing in the academy. He was released at 15 and after leaving school he made the move across the pond to America. He was offered a scholarship in North Carolina. He spent a year there playing under the management of ex- Chelsea first team manager Dave Sexton. David then transferred to Minnesota because of the heat and intense training conditions in Carolina aswel as he wanted to move up a league. He also spent one year in Minnesota before returning home in 2005.

It was in America that David gained his first coaching experience. He coached the girls high school team for one season and thoroughly enjoyed it. On returning home Dave gave up his serious playing career and decided to concentrate on his coaching badges aswel as his education. He spent two weeks on work experience with Chelsea Football in the Community and was successful enough to be asked back to work over the summer. On completing his Level 1 David has now set himself the target of taking the Level 2 coaching badge. He hopes to one day coach a successful team, or even return to the States to coach.
